Notifications that bring customers back without you lifting a finger

Automated notifications in BTAQA are short messages you write once, and they reach your customer's card in Apple Wallet or Google Wallet at the right moment: when they join, when they go quiet, on their birthday and after a visit. You stay in touch with every customer without opening the dashboard every day.

  • 4 automated messages
  • On Engage and Retain
  • 30 characters per message
  • Reaches every cardholder

Automated notifications are included in the Engage and Retain plans, not in Connect.

Which messages does BTAQA send for you?

The Auto Notifications tab holds four messages. Each has its own switch and a text you write yourself, up to 30 characters. You set them per card, so your cafe card and your car wash card can say different things.

No automated message goes to a customer who did not opt in to marketing messages when they joined.

  • Welcome Message: arrives one hour after the customer joins, so they have time to save the card to their wallet.
  • We Miss You: arrives when the customer has not visited for the number of days you pick, from 3 to 30.
  • Birthday Greeting: arrives on the customer's birthday, when your join form collects it.
  • Review Request: arrives after a visit with a delay you pick, from 1 hour to 24 hours, and can name the product the customer bought.

How does the win-back message work without nagging?

Once a day, BTAQA looks for customers whose last stamp is older than the period you set. You choose it under Days inactive: 3, 5, 7, 10, 14, 21 or 30 days, with 7 as the default.

Each absence gets one message. If the customer comes back, collects a stamp and later goes quiet again, they get a new one. Customers with a reward already waiting are left alone, since they already have a reason to return.

What do the birthday and review messages need?

Both depend on data the card collects, so their switches stay disabled until that data exists. The panel shows a button that takes you straight to the setting you need.

  • The Birthday Greeting needs the birthday field in your join form. Select Enable Birthday Field to open the card settings.
  • The Review Request needs a Google review link on the card, added in Step 3: Information through Go to Step 3 to add link.
  • A review request is only sent when staff pick a product at scan in the scanner app; the {product} variable puts that product's name in the message.
  • Each customer gets at most one review request per day.

How does the message reach the customer's phone?

The message goes to the card saved in Apple Wallet or Google Wallet, so your customer installs no app and you never need their phone number. Scheduled messages are checked every 5 minutes, so they arrive close to their set time.

Google Wallet itself allows 3 messages per card in 24 hours. BTAQA puts no monthly cap on notifications on any plan.

How should you set the four messages for your business?

Customers don't visit every business at the same pace, so set the We Miss You period to fit yours. A coffee shop that sees regulars every few days usually suits 5 or 7 days. Customers come back to a car wash less often, so start at 14 or 21.

At a barbershop or beauty salon, the service cycle runs for weeks, so 21 or 30 days fits better, with a birthday greeting that reminds the customer of their gift. At a restaurant or cafe, the review request becomes a specific question such as "How was your {product}?", so the customer reads the name of the dish or drink they ordered.

Start with the default and change it once you know your customers' rhythm. You can change the period from the list at any time, and it applies from the next daily check.

When does a message not arrive, and what happens then?

Messages go to the card in the wallet. If a customer never added your card to Apple Wallet or Google Wallet, BTAQA skips them and does not count it as sent. The same applies when a customer has hit Google Wallet's limit of 3 messages per card in 24 hours and has no Apple device: the message is marked skipped and is not retried.

We Miss You counts the absence from the last stamp, so a customer who joined but has no stamp yet is not included. The daily check runs at 06:00 UTC, which is 09:00 in Riyadh and 10:00 in Dubai, so win-back and birthday messages arrive in the morning.

  • In Google Wallet each message carries a title for its type: "Welcome!", "We miss you!", "Thanks for visiting", and "Happy Birthday!".
  • In Apple Wallet the message shows on the lock screen and stays on the back of the card until a newer one arrives.

How are automated notifications different from push campaigns?

A push campaign is one message you write and send yourself to every cardholder at once, such as a weekend offer. Campaigns are on every plan, with a limit of 3 sends per card in a rolling 24 hours.

Automated notifications fire for each customer on their own when something happens: they join, go quiet, have a birthday, or visit. They don't count toward the 3 campaign sends, so your next campaign stays available however much the automated messages run.

Use both, and don't overdo it. A customer who gets too many messages may turn off the card's alerts or delete it. How many push notifications should you send? gives you a practical pace.

Frequently asked questions

No. They are on Engage and Retain. On Connect, the tab shows an upgrade notice with an Upgrade Now button.

No. They get one message per absence, and only get another after they return, collect a stamp and go quiet again.

Your card does not collect birthdays yet. Enable the birthday field in the join form, then switch the greeting on. It only reaches customers who entered their birthday.

30 characters. BTAQA suggests a ready text in the card's language, such as "We miss you! Visit us today", which you can edit.

When they join. Customers tick the consent box on the join page before adding the card to their wallet, and that consent covers your card's messages. So messages reach everyone who holds your card.

No. The limit of 3 sends per card in 24 hours covers the campaigns you send yourself. Google Wallet does apply its own per-card limit, so if a customer hits it and has no Apple device, the message is skipped.

Push campaigns

They don't receive the message, because it travels through the card in Apple Wallet or Google Wallet. BTAQA marks it skipped and does not count it as sent.

The welcome arrives one hour after the customer joins. The review request arrives after the visit with the delay you picked, from 1 hour to 24 hours, as long as staff picked a product at the scan.
